I’m really super excited to share with you the Queer Tarot Cards photographs will be exhibited for the first time in the Piece of Me Group Exhibition held the NOIR Darkroom art gallery in Coburg, Melbourne, Australia.

Up-coming very soon I will have details of a Melbourne exhibition for Midsumma 2018, ChillOut Festival 2018 and Sydney Mardi Gras 2018 also.

The Piece of Me Exhibition addresses emotional and mental sacrifices people make to TRY and connect with others. This is so relevant when we look at the Tarot meanings and interpretations of the Queer Tarot Cards and the stories the participants have told in their pictures.

Maybe we feel empty because we leave pieces of ourselves in everything we used to love – R.M. Drake.

Artist Statement:
The Queer Tarot Project is a multi-media project, telling stories of the queer community through Tarot. When rejected by traditional religion, the queer community has often turned to Tarot for guidance, connection, self-discovery and or spiritual belonging.

This project aims to de-mystify and bring Tarot back to its story telling roots, and remove the white, patriarchal and religious overtones commonly seen in traditional Tarot decks. These cards are from our new Queer Tarot deck, for and by the Queer community, representing our gender and sexual identities; telling our stories through Tarot archetypes.

This project is working towards further exhibitions, silent auction of prints to support a community cause represented in each card. Creation a deck of Tarot cards, video card interpretations linked to the cards with an invisible QR code and the making of a short film or documentary for the Queer Film Festival focusing on telling Queer stories about connection with themselves and others through Tarot.

Florence, the photographer behind the vision of the Queer Tarot Cards, is a geeky queer witch hailing from New Zealand, now living in Melbourne. A creative writer and self-employed web developer, she runs site called Create Magick. Her work brings self-love and positive queer politic together, telling personal stories about manifesting magick, freedom and creativity.

See new Tarot Cards as they're created

Join my newsletter list means I will email you probably twice a month (or less) as I create the new Tarot Cards.  Feel free follow my journey creating a Queer Tarot Deck, your support and encouragement makes this happen.
I’m a big fan of sharing the behind the scenes of what it actually takes to create unique projects, and do all kinds of other stuff without having a huge team or funding (yet). Thank you for being awesome.

Thanks for supporting the Queer Tarot Project
